Across the world, millions survive TB, COVID, and pneumonia, but many never fully recover. Post-infection lung disease affects up to25 to 60% of TB survivors and more than one-third of post-COVID patients who had severe disease, forming a silent and growing epidemic.

Dr. Munje emphasized that breathlessness is not merely a medical symptom but a social disability—it robs individuals of work, independence, dignity, and places emotional and financial strain on families through repeated illness and hospitalizations.

While healthcare systems celebrate cure rates, real lives continue beyond discharge summaries. She called for a shift from cure to care—focusing on early detection, long-term follow-up, pulmonary rehabilitation, prevention, cleaner air, and innovation.

A free breath is hope. Dr Radha Munje is a senior pulmonologist and physician with over 35 years of clinical, academic, and research experience in Respiratory and Internal Medicine. Her areas of expertise include Tuberculosis (TB & MDR-TB), Asthma and Allergy, COPD, ILD, Sleep Disorders, and COVID-related respiratory care.

She has held several prestigious leadership roles, including President of the Vidarbha Chest Association (2019–21) and Governing Council Member of the Indian Chest Society. A recipient of multiple national honors, she has delivered renowned orations such as S.N. Tripathy Oration (NATCON 2015), Mokadam Oration (2021), and S.P. Agrawal Oration (NATCON 2023), and received the Professional Excellence Award by the Government of India on World TB Day 2021.
Dr Radha Munje has been the Organising Chairperson of the 73rd NATCON, Nagpur, serves on editorial boards of leading medical journals, and has authored 50+ national and international publications with chapters in major textbooks.
