Alamelu Ammal is 86 years old now, and yet she continues to make and sell her pickles because of her interest in the art of cooking pickles. In her early childhood she started making pickles. Her home was surrounded by mango trees where stayed during past days in Kannur. Her hobby was to collect mangoes and make pickles during those days itself. She used to often serve the cooked pickles to her relatives and neighbors. Though this is was not a business for her, instead a passion towards it. This was the humble start for her. She still carries that with a great passion. Anybody visiting Palakkad make sure to visit & buy her pickles from the Kalpathy where it is located.
