Seventy-five years isn’t just a number. It’s generations of artists and clients. Countless stories told in lines and color. A shop that became a landmark in tattoo history and San Diego history, simply by staying open, staying honest, and doing the work the old way day after day, decade after decade.

For me, this celebration also marked a turning of the page. As I step down partially to enjoy more life in Florida, I’m still part of Master’s always will be. You don’t “leave” a place like this. Not really. It’s in your hands, your habits, and your head forever.

What hit me the hardest was seeing everyone come through the doors — friends, clients, and fellow tattooers — some traveling far and wide just to be there. It reminded me that a tattoo shop isn’t just a business. It’s a meeting point. A refuge. A rite of passage. For a lot of people, Master’s has been the backdrop to major moments of their lives… and I don’t say that lightly.

It meant a lot to have Tahiti Hiro Lynch and my family come down from Los Angeles. Watching him take it all in — the stories, the walls, the people — you could see the realization land: how much this place has meant to so many, for so long.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us, and to everyone who’s ever sat in a chair at Master’s — yesterday, decades ago, or somewhere in between. You’re the reason this history exists.
