Written by Brian, Keep Yourself Alive was originally released as single on July 6, 1973. Unfortunately, for the lack of success achieved at that time, Queen decided to make a version called Long-Lost Retake. This version of Keep Yourself Alive was released on July 15, 1975 in the US, with Lily Of The Valley and God Save The Queen as B-Sides. This new version of the song remained unreleased on album until 2011, when it was included as a bonus track in the deluxe edition of the album A Night At The Opera.
