We shot this video early in September of 2023 at our campsite at Threemile Campground which is three miles outside the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Threemile Campground is located in the Shoshone National Forest. It's also approximately 49 miles west of Cody, Wyoming.

Threemile Campground is the closest campground to the east entrance of Yellowstone. You will see many others, but they aren't as near the east entrance of the park. We arrived at the campground on Labor Day, which is the official start of the shoulder season. We had choices of campsites.

Before you decide you would like to stay at Threemile Campground, you need to know that when we were there it was a hard-sided campground, no popups and no tents. The campsites include a picnic table, bear box, and lantern ring. The campsites aren't huge, but the full price cost is $15 or just $7.50 with the senior pass, and it is only 3 miles to the east entrance of Yellowstone. The campsites with no hookups just inside the park are more than half what we paid; they are $33.

Threemile Campground is 30 miles from the Fishing Bridge area on the east side of Yellowstone. Fishing Bridge is the first populated area you will come to if you come to the east entrance. It is a gorgeous campground, but it doesn't have water. After you enter the park, you can find lots of water.
