Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire are the 3rd generation mainline entries in the franchise, coming out on the Gameboy Advance 1.7 years after Crystal.
The hardware generation jumped but the games are still very similar at the core.
This is a retrospective on Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire (emerald gets a separate video--hold on patient Emerald stans). Did my best to showcase NEW content, and especially to track changes from previous generations on returning mechanics like game corner, NPC trades, and of course the core battle gameplay.
