EC Orders Repoll in All Booths of Falta Seat in West Bengal After Poll Irregularities

Описание: The Election Commission of India has ordered a complete repoll across all polling booths in the Falta Assembly constituency of West Bengal after flagging serious electoral violations during voting held on April 29.

The poll body announced that fresh voting will now take place in all 285 polling stations of the constituency, citing widespread irregularities and subversion of the democratic process. Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party had alleged that EVMs were tampered with at several booths, including claims that black tape was used to conceal the party’s symbol.

Taking note of complaints across multiple polling stations, the Commission decided to nullify the earlier polling exercise and conduct fresh elections in the entire constituency.

Repolling is scheduled for May 21, while counting of votes for this seat will take place on May 24. Meanwhile, counting for the remaining 293 Assembly seats in the state is set to be held on May 4.

The development marks a significant intervention by the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections in the state.
