There's a Saturday night jazz session happening every week from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 202 Market. I mean, it will happen until the owner pulls the plug on it. But enjoy it for now, if you like hearing standards, etc., interpreted by some of Roanoke's finest.
Here, we have Cameron McLaughlin playing a gorgeous solo, with Peter Fitzgibbon on guitar and Rob Sanderl on drums. Notice people engaged in inane conversation, clueless about what's going on. That's the problem at 202 and plenty of other places around town.
McLaughlin is playing off the changes to "Insensatez" by Antonio Carlos Jobim (thanks for the info on that number, Peter F.)
Maybe there should be "talking" bars and "shutting up" bars. I don't know. Vote for me. I'll change everything. Haha!
