You don't need any skill to enjoy movies, books, or paintings, but if you aren't competent at video games you won't be able to play most of them. That keeps beginners from breaking into the medium, but I say it's time we stop using it as an excuse! There are countless video games these days that lower or entirely break that barrier to entry and can showcase the beauty of the video game medium. In other words, if you're looking for a way to see what video games have to offer these days, there are plenty of places to start, and I want to look at a few of my favorite, beginner-friendly options.
