In the year of 1962 when the Chinese army launched a deadly attack on India known as the Indo-China War or the Indo-China War or the Sino-Indian border dispute. The belief that China could never invade India did not give the Indian army time to prepare for war. সালটা ছিল 1962 যখন ঠিক এইরকম ভাবেই ভারতের ওপর মারাত্মক আক্রমণ করেছিল চিন সেনাবাহিনী যা sino-indian war বা Indo china war বা চীন-ভারত সীমান্তের সংঘাত হিসাবে পরিচিত। ভারত তখনও সন্দেহ করতে পারেনি যে চীন কখনও আক্রমণ চালাবে, তবে চিন তা করেছিল। 1962 সালের ২০ ই অক্টোবর ভারতকে আক্রমণ করেছিল চীন। চীন কখনই ভারতকে আক্রমণ করতে পারে না, এই বিশ্বাস ভারতীয় সেনাবাহিনীকে যুদ্ধের জন্য প্রস্তুত হতে সময় দেয়নি । যুদ্ধের জন্য প্রস্তুত না থাকার ফলে মাত্র দশ থেকে বারো হাজার ভারতীয় সেনা এই যুদ্ধে অংশগ্রহণ করেছিল যেখানে তাদের বিপরীত পক্ষে লড়াই করেছিল প্রায় 80,000 চীনা সেনা। যুদ্ধ প্রায় এক মাস অব্যাহত ছিল এবং চীন যুদ্ধবিরতি ঘোষণার পরে 21 নভেম্বর যুদ্ধ শেষ হয়েছিল।
যুদ্ধের মূল কারণ ছিল বিস্তৃত বিচ্ছিন্ন আকসাই চিন এবং অরুণাচল প্রদেশ সীমান্ত অঞ্চলগুলির সার্বভৌমত্ব নিয়ে বিরোধ। ভারতের পক্ষ থেকে কাশ্মীরের এবং চীনের পক্ষ থেকে জিনজিয়াংয়ের অংশ বলে দাবি করা আকসিন চিনে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সড়ক যোগাযোগ রয়েছে যা চীনা অঞ্চলকে তিব্বত এবং জিনজিয়াংকে সংযুক্ত করে। এই আকসাই চিন এবং তিব্বতের ওপর অধিকার ই ছিল যুদ্ধের প্রধান কারণ
