Описание: At the Western end of the island of Crete in Greece there is a beautiful Peninsula: Gramvousa (in Greek: Γραμβούσα or Χερσόνησος Γραμβούσας). The Gramvousa Peninsula has many smaller islets and two bigger uninhabited islands of Gramvousa (Imeri and Agria Gramvousa). Imeri or Gramvousa Island has a Venetian Fortress which had to protect the island, the cape, the bay, the lagoon and the peninsula against Arab and Turkish Ottoman attacks. The Balos Lagoon (or Balos Bay, Μπάλος) is the piece of land between one of these islands and the coast of Crete which forms Cape Tigani.

The Balos lagoon is known for it's crystal clear blue tropical warm waters and white sandy beaches. It is the best and most beautiful beach of Europe and one of the best beaches in the World. North of Balos there are the ruins of the Greek-Roman city of Agnion with a temple dedicated to Apollo.
