At Boliden’s Aitik surface copper mine, a fleet of Cat® 793D trucks had reached their maximum hours of machine operation at a time when high availability was crucial. Meanwhile, at the nearby Malmberget underground iron ore mine, owner LKAB was looking at options to replace a customized Cat R2900G loader. While the mines and the machines are very different, Cat dealer Pon Equipment delivered one solution — a Cat Certified Rebuild that replaced aging equipment with like-new machines at a fraction of the cost — and with minimal downtime.
