Neil Elvis Winmar, aka Nicky Winmar, was born on the 25th of November 1965 in Kellerberrin, Western Australia. During his early days, Nicky grew up on an aboriginal reserve in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt in a shack made of corrugated iron that didn’t even have window glasses. Nicky’s house didn’t have a decent floor, running water, or proper sewerage. But despite all these challenges, Winmar grew up as a responsible kid and started working at the very young age of 15 as a shearer. And yeah, he had to leave his school for this.
