This Black History Month, the DAV Department of Virginia is honored to celebrate the legacy of John and Linda King as part of the rich tradition of Black veterans and leaders whose service has strengthened our organization and our communities. In this interview, PSC Linda King shares her and John’s story of service and leadership within DAV, offering a powerful firsthand reflection on their impact and commitment to veterans and their families across the Commonwealth. The conversation is conducted by DAV Auxiliary member Alicia Ramey, spouse of current Department Commander Dwayne Ramey, as a tribute to the Kings’ enduring example and to the countless Black veterans and family members who continue to lead, mentor, and inspire within DAV.
