French Protests Spill Into Belgium As Students Take To The Streets | APT

Описание: Belgian students take to the streets in Liège, inspired in part by a wave of youth protests in neighbouring France, as anger grows over education reforms and rising university tuition fees.

Hundreds of protesters marched through Liège on October 7, with students calling for better education and saying the protests in France encouraged young people in Belgium to speak out. Belgium’s French-speaking region raised annual higher education tuition fees for most students from 835 euros to 1,194 euros.

The demonstrations come after clashes between protesters and police in Brussels in June over education reforms. In France, students, teachers and parents also took part in major school protests on October 6.
