TRIP REPORT | Fun on the Twin Otter | Isles of Scilly Skybus | DHC-6-300 | Alderney to Southampton
Today we will be taking a flight with Skybus onboard one of their Twin Otters, on a 40 minute flight from Alderney to Southampton, Skybus are currently operating one of their own Twin Otter’s for Aurigny, ahead of the latter receiving their own Twin Otter early next year.
The Twin Otters are replacing the Dornier 228s within the Aurigny fleet, and having arrived on the latter into Alderney earlier that day, I was keen to see the difference between the 2 aircraft, and while both have a charm to them that you don’t get with your regular A320, 737s etc, the Twin Otter was by the far the most enthralling, it was louder, more rickety, and overall I just felt more of a sense of being in a very small aircraft.
