Описание: October nineteen forty-two, El Alamein, Egypt. The British Empire was dying in the North African desert, and everyone knew it. This is the story of Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, the British commander who became the one Allied general that Erwin Rommel, the legendary Desert Fox himself, privately admitted had broken him at his own game. Four months had passed since the fall of Tobruk, and the retreat toward Cairo had turned into a rout. British and Commonwealth forces were fleeing across Egypt, chased by German panzers that moved faster than anyone thought armor could move. They weren't holding ground. They weren't winning.
