What DREAMS Teach about Our REALITY

The writers of the Book of Zohar said that our present world, compared to the upper spiritual reality they revealed, is like a dream. Actually, we live in a dream within a dream. So although the corporeal dreams we have are just the brain’s metabolism of what has been going on in our lives, they can still hint at the underlying nature of our reality.

1. Reality manifested via stimuli from a hidden world.

Dreams are the product of stimuli furnished to us by a world hidden from us. Dreams originated from stimuli from waking reality; they are simply rearranged and ordered in a way that we can digest and process them. It is interesting how stimuli from our world can readily be incorporated into a dream.

For example, a plane roars overhead while we sleep, and we suddenly dream about being the pilot. Or the alarm goes off and in the dream people are fleeing from a fire I remember I started by leaving a pot on the stove during the day. The brain fills in the logic to make the stimuli make sense in the dream.

Right now, we are in a spiritual world, interacting with objects that are actually spiritual objects, but we imagine them in a way we can logically imagine them in this imagination and dream we are having. We are having a very wild dream, one in which there is no Creator of our reality, and we can seemingly do whatever we want as long as we can get away with it.

But the truth is that we are actually in a spiritual reality that we can’t see until we start behaving according to that reality's laws- the laws of bestowal. We are calibrated so that, subconsciously or consciously, we try to receive all the best, the maximum that we can only for ourselves. We receive everything without thinking about why we are receiving it and perhaps we should receive it in a special way, in a way that we bestow back to the source that is giving it to us.

We do this because we do not know there is a Creator who is the source of everything coming our way. Until we start to behave this way, in the form of bestowal to bestow, we can’t reveal the Creator. Thus we continue living in this dream in which there is no Creator.

2. Contact with your true self is unconscious

In our dreams, we do not really have a body; even when we try to look at our hands, we can’t really see them. We are like a “ghost” floating from scene to scene.

In dreams, it is pretty clear that the body has all kinds of stuff happening to it but is not my true body.
This is the truth about our present reality as well. We are in some kind of a movie like the “Matrix” or “Vanilla Sky”, where our real self is somewhere else and it is not what we imagine like this biological body. Our real self is the soul, which is eternal. And I go from scene to scene in this movie I call my life until my connection with the soul becomes conscious.

3.No free will

We all have dreams when we realize that we lack free will. We cannot stop doing what the dream is compelling us to do.

Spiritual parallel

That is exactly what is being done to us. We are being shifted from scene to scene. What is different from dreams is that we are not allowed to see how we are controlled. We have an illusion of control, double concealment, because not only are we controlled, but we are also utterly convinced that we are controlling our lives.

4. Inability to realize you are dreaming

We all had those moments in dreams when there was the realization that we were dreaming, and then in the next moment, we find that we are unconsciously sailing through different dream scenes, unaware.

Our life is the same as well. There are moments when we start to feel that maybe there is a reality behind the one we exist in. We have this brief sensation, but then we get pulled into different desires and forget all about this.

5. Lucid dreaming can be learned

Participants in a study were administered lights and sounds in specific orders that reminded and triggered the person during their dreams to remember they were dreaming and take control of the dream.

There are proverbial lights and sounds within this dream reality we are living in that can awaken the person to realize and not lose the sensation that they are dreaming. We can awaken from the dream by intentionally designing a special environment consisting of “objects” that come from the “non-dream” world, from the true reality.

These “objects” are the authentic texts of Kabbalah. The books of Kabbalah and the students who are studying these books can be part of our environment which reminds us about the true reality, the reality of bestowal. In that reality, the Creator does exist, and all that we experience comes from this Creator.
