Early yesterday morning, Jackie's loud chortles woke up the neighbors as she gave a shout out to Shadow that they had another egg and to come take a look! Shadow responded quickly and arrived just after Jackie left for her well-earned break.

Shadow greeted Egg#2 with a long look before he snuggled down onto his two precious eggs and rolled them with his beak. He spent time caring for the eggs as the orange glow of the sun shone behind him and reflected off the lake.

A little while later, Jackie called Shadow and he left to go meet her on the lower branch of the Cactus Snag for a quick mating session. Jackie then wasted no time as she immediately headed back over to the nest to cover the eggs. More mating could mean another possible egg on Monday, however, a better indicator of that is whether they incubate the two eggs full time or not in the next two days.

Jackie delivered a small amount of fluff just before lunchtime, and before Shadow rushed off, they had a brief but lively discussion. Perhaps Jackie was placing her order for lunch, because not five minutes later, Shadow returned with a special fish delivery for his lady. He takes good care of his queen and seems to enjoy delivering those gifts directly to her beak!

Of course, Jackie had no trouble eating the entire fish and afterward she covered the eggs again. Shadow took a break and returned a couple of hours later with a talon of fluff. Jackie began to grab it with her beak, but he was hoping this bunch of fluff was enough that she might give him more time on the eggs. It worked! Shadow then snuggled down on them and pulled the new fluff around himself with his beak.

At day's end, Jackie called him so she could take her last break. He showed up with a long thin stick and landed down by her tail. First, he tried to place the stick on her back, then he stepped on her tail… oops! Then he picked up the stick in his beak, slowly spun around and the end softly tapped her neck feathers… oops! Jackie made it out safely and when she returned, Shadow flew off to roost and she tucked in over the eggs for the night.
