Video Transcript:
To become a public adjuster in Florida, the Department of Financial Services requires a public adjuster license. To get a license, applicants must:
Be at least 18 years old
Be a resident of Florida or maintain a principal business location, such as headquarters, in Florida
Be a United States citizen or legally allowed to work with authorization from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services
May not hold a resident license in another state
Hold a license in Florida as an all-lines adjuster, and be appointed on a continual basis for the previous 6 months as a public adjuster apprentice, as an independent adjuster, or as a company employee adjuster
Once these requirements are met, you’ll need to file a $50,000 public adjuster surety bond. At SuretyBonds.com, Florida public adjuster bonds cost $500 for a 1-year term and are issued instantly. However, you can save 25% and bypass the renewal process when you opt for a multi-year term at checkout.
Once payment is received, SuretyBonds.com will immediately deliver your bond via email for you to print and sign.
Submit your adjuster application and payment of fees through the Department of Financial Services’ Bureau of Licensing online portal, and mail your original bond to the Bureau using their bond form.
You will also need to submit fingerprints, which can be done electronically or via mail.
When your application is approved, you’ll receive a message from the Department to schedule your exam through PearsonVUE. The exam contains 85 scored questions plus 15 pretest questions and must be completed within two hours.
Upon completion of all licensing requirements, the Department will email you a link to view and print your public adjuster license.
SuretyBonds.com will start notifying you 3 months prior to your bond renewal date. The Department does not require documentation at renewal, meaning you simply need to pay your renewal premium for the bond to remain in effect.
SuretyBonds.com makes the bonding process simple, fast and convenient.
