Описание: CTMD Touring Artist Grupo Rebolu is one of the preeminent Afro-Colombian musical ensembles in the United States, combining original compositions with deep roots in folkloric Afro-Colombian music. Created from the desire of Ronald Polo, (vocalist/composer/gaitero), Moris Cañate, (master folkloric percussionist), and later on Johanna Castaneda (vocalist/musician) and Erica "Kika" Parra (drummer) to promote the rich musical traditions of their ancestors, Rebolu continues to honor and evolve the music of the afro-descendants of Colombia's Caribbean coast.

Part of a special concert series with NYC Parks, Cultures and Fun, the concert in this episode took place at Highland Park in Brooklyn on June 15, 2022 as the pandemic was just starting to subside.

Beat of the Boroughs is a new video series by the Center for Traditional Music and Dance (CTMD) celebrating the stories and sounds of local traditional artists from around the five boroughs. In these times, it is more important than ever to celebrate the remarkable contributions of immigrant artists and the central role they have always played in the making of New York City and the United States.

Founded in 1968, CTMD assists New York City’s immigrant communities to sustain their distinctive performing arts traditions and promotes cross-cultural understanding by sharing these art forms with audiences across the city. Nationally renowned for programs that combine research, documentation, presentation and education, CTMD assists immigrant communities in passing traditions to new generations.
