This guitar came into my life by chance — and somehow, it’s been part of some of my best playing.
For this week’s Friday Jam, I picked up the Ibanez Gio that an office colleague gifted me in 2024. It belonged to her son, who left it behind when he moved to the US.
In a way, this guitar was destined for me. I was playing this very guitar when a video of mine — shot in a dhoti — unexpectedly went viral last year. But more than the views or the moment, what stayed with me was how right everything felt while playing.
Despite being an entry-level, budget guitar, it delivers the goods. I’ve grown a special bond with it over time, and I like to believe it has delivered once again in this jam.
