Simon is working on other restoration projects as part of his own boat building and restoration business. I order to fund the work on Chance and Mai Star II. This is a Windboats Pearly Miss alloy speed boat from the 1960's a decade in which Simon was born. It is a detailed restoration which going to include source as many as is possible the original fittings to bring the boat back to its original specification as possible. So fare Simon has polished as much of the hull as possible without turning the boat over on to its deck and polishing the lower part of the hull.
Once the hull is turned over then the lower part of the hull can be polished. There will also be time to measure up for a new transom pad which id made out of two half sheets of marine plywood which as bolted together and have the hull sandwiched in the middle.
The biggest problem at the moment so sourcing the windscreen fittings for the Perspex windscreen as these may well be have to be made by a custom company that deals in these type of fittings. This is a while off as there is a lot to do in the meantime.
