Are you working with polylactic acid, or PLA?, it´s a great polymer, a biosource and biodegradable one, great for the new trends in the market… but… the mechanicals aren´t sometimes that great for the applications you require right?, we suggest you try two strategies:
First, use blends!. Instead of using 100%PLA, try blending it with ABS, ABS will provide improved impact properties (50/50 or 65/35 blend) and you´ll have great tensile modulus… how?, just add AddiCo 9320 as a compatibilizer and that´s it!, even with 3%wt you´ll get great results.
Second, use an impact modifier. You can add an economic impact modifier such as MBS and compatibilize it with 3% AddiCo 9320 in order to improve the impact properties of polylactic acid, which, by the way is very brittle in general.
