India now spends a lot of money on its military, more than Saudi Arabia. The top three spenders are the United States, China, and Russia.

Some people wonder if India is spending enough on defense, especially since the security situation is getting worse. According to experts, India isn't spending enough.

In a recent report by a Swedish research group called SIPRI, it was revealed that India spent $83.6 billion on its military in 2023, making it the fourth largest spender globally. This was a 4.2 percent increase from 2022 and a 44 percent increase from 2014.

Yet, considering India's strategic situation, it could be said that the country is spending the least compared to other major powers worldwide. According to the SIPRI report, a large portion of India's military budget is allocated to managing the significant rise in personnel, including both current and retired members receiving pensions.
