Note - His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama recognised the current 11th Panchen Lama, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima on 14th May, 1995.

The conversation with Zeekgyab Rinpoche la sees him explain who is the Panchen Lama and how Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the Panchen Lama selected by His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the real Panchen Lama. Rinpoche la narrates how the young Panchen Lama at the tender age of 6 along with family members were abducted by the Chinese Communist Government on 17th May, 1995.

Rinpoche explains the importance of the Panchen Lama and how he is currently the abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, which is the official seat of the Panchen Lama. For Rinpoche, the significance of the Panchen Lama is not only in terms of continuing and carrying forth the legacy of the previous Panchen Lama who was crucial in the revival of Tibetan Culture and heritage after the nation wide destruction that occurred during the cultural revolution. But also to receive the proper teachings and transmissions that have been passed on for generations from One Panchen Lama to another.

Furthermore, he highlights how through the guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Central Tibetan Administration, several NGO's and even his monastery, they all continue to advocate for the release of the Panchen Lama and to get public knowledge of his whereabouts.
