3018 CNC - The only upgrade you will ever need - Cutting aluminum is just like butter

In this video, I show the process of building a new CNC milling machine using the 3018 CNC. Here's the 3D CAD design of the new CNC:

All the brackets can be milled on the 3018 CNC (even the original) with a few tricks. The new machine is bigger, more sturdy, heavy duty, faster and more precise.

All the rails on the 3 axis are fully supported, SBR20, very sturdy.

The stepper motors are NEMA 23

At the end of the video, I showed how smoothly it cut Aluminum. Everything went really smoothly, from preparing all the parts, assembling the machine and milling at the end.


The cost at the end of this build is about 375USD (to be generous).

In the end, this build is much better alternative to upgrade your 3018 CNC. With the larger working area, more powerful and more precise, this machine will give you a lot more potential to make stuffs.
