🛠️ If you’ve been 3D printing for a while and you’re ready to start making wearable props for your kids, getting the scale right becomes everything.
In this episode of our 3D Printing Journey, Evan and I scale and test fit the Iron Man Mark 6 helmet before committing to final materials. We walk through how we used Armorsmith Designer to create a digital avatar of Evan, scaled the helmet to fit his head on the computer, export it into Meshmixer to separate the parts, and run some high quality prototype prints to check real-world fit.
We tape together a full prototype helmet and Evan tried it on to see how it actually feels. Comfort, visibility, padding, room for motors, and battery placement all matter at this stage before we print the final parts in ASA.
This is our first wearable cosplay piece, and getting this step right sets us up for success later.
🧰 In this video we cover:
• Why wearable props require accurate scaling
• Using Armorsmith Designer to create a digital avatar
• Adjusting head height, width, and depth measurements
• Importing and slicing parts in Meshmixer
• Planning for padding, motors, and battery packs
• Printing fast PLA prototypes for real-world test fitting
• Assembling a temporary helmet using gaffer’s tape
• First fit impressions before final ASA prints
