So many of us were deeply moved by the recent premiere of "The Normal Heart" film on HBO. In releasing these never-before-seen video clips of Larry Kramer at one of our very first Forums in 1993, we hope to show to the world his incredible passion, fire, anger, grief and commitment to creating awareness and action on the AIDS crisis.
Outspoken activist Larry Kramer (writer of "The Normal Heart" and founder of ACT UP) took on President Clinton and left a message of hope despite overwhelming discrimination when he spoke about the AIDS crisis at The CT Forum's "Straight Talk and Honest Answers about AIDS" in February of 1993.
On the same night that tennis great Arthur Ashe was supposed to join him on stage - Arthur passed away that evening - Kramer brought his fiery brand of truth telling and provocation to the panel discussion, displaying an intense urgency to the crisis and pleading for more action.
