Odeon Syncopators (aka Okeh Syncopators aka Herry Reser’s Orchestra) – Footloose, Fox-Trot (Carl Rupp), Odeon 1925 (USA / Germany)
NOTE: Harry Reser’s Band presents here one more of its awesome jazz recordings from the Charleston era. Interestingly, this is the rare American Odeon release. Originally, the side had been waxed by Okeh and sent to distribution in other parts of the world under the Odeon label. And vice-versa: during the 1920s many European Odeon jazz recordings had been leased to American plant of Okeh for distribution in America. Such cooperation between Okeh in USA and Odeon in Berlin was possible due to the fact, that since 1904 Odeon had been a part of the powerful Carl Lindström record concern in Germany covering Odeon, Beka, Parlophon, Homocord, Gloria. Before WW 1 Carl Lindström’s employee Otto Heineman was sent to New York to open the Lindström’s branch in USA. Yet, the outbreak of the Great War made it impossible for several years until 1919, when Okeh Records was founded by Heineman as an independent plant and Carl Lindström’s close ally in USA..
