Описание: In honor of Patricia McBride's birthday today here is a rarely seen video of her dancing the Violette Verdy variation from Robbins's DANCES AT A GATHERING. This was choreographed expressly to show off Verdy's unique charm and musicality, and many, many, other ballerinas have now danced this. In my not-so-humble opinion Patty here is one of the best, if not THE best, at making this uniquely her own. In this ballet (of which I was an original) Robbins wanted a very improvised, "non-performance," presentation style. In other words, we were just people dancing...not "dancers" dancing. I think Patty captures that perfectly here. Totally w/o artifice and looking like she's just making it up as she goes along. This is a very difficult thing to do. It's the perfect less-is-more approach that Jerry wanted. She also demonstrates how one can take a role, and without changing one step or musical cue, still be oneself and respect the choreography...TOTALLY. BRAVA McBride!
