Описание: This beautiful hymn was published in 139 different hymnals! It has been recorded by many famous singers, such as Jim Reeves and Johnny Cash. I always loved this song. I loved it even more after I heard the Webster Brothers sing it with Carl Butler. Pap and I sang it quite a few times, including in live concerts. I always had to concentrate to avoid singing parts of the second and third verses out of order, and Pap sometimes "fed" me the lines during the guitar turnarounds. I placed a link below where you can see him do that in a concert for the Union County Historical Society. I always assumed that this song was directly inspired by Jesus' words in the 14th chapter of John, when He said, "I go to prepare a place for you." James C. Moore was a seminary student at the time he wrote this song, so I still assume that was partly his inspiration (especially with regard to the first verse). However, according to Google's AI review, Moore also wrote the song because his father, who had always been a singing leader in their church, was aging before his eyes, and Moore realized that he wouldn't always be able to sing for the Lord. Also according to Google, Moore didn't publish the song until 1930. The song is now part of public domain. Maria and I had never sung this song together, and she probably would have sung it even better if I hadn't sung along. By the third chorus, I finally was able to sing the harmony part without sounding wobbly, like I was searching for my part. After the first take that you see in the video, she sang an amazing solo take, but my good friend, the Zoom camera, decided not to successfully save that video onto the SD card. I forgot to mention in the video that Maria is also a great piano player and an accomplished music teacher, serving students in grades pre-k through 8. She has orchestrated many successful elementary and middle school chorus concerts that have positively impacted many families, veterans, and community members.
