The ICICLE Cultural Space in Paris invites you to rediscover the artworks of Szeto Lap, the first contemporary Chinese artist exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in 1982. Trained in China and then in Paris, Szeto Lap blends Chinese and Western influences in his charcoal and oil works, drawing on this dual culture to create landscapes, still lifes, and interiors that showcase hypnotic plays of light and shadow.
The exhibition PRÉSENCE curated by Myriam Kryger, features six large-format paintings. Borrowed from the Guangda Museum in Hangzhou and a private collection, these works span from 1978 to 2023. Empty of human representation but filled with their presence, they invite each viewer to observe the visible and the invisible, delving into the heart of things.
