In the first week of January 2006, a horrifying crime spree unfolded in Richmond and Chesterfield, Virginia. The Harvey family – Brian (49), Kathryn "Cathy" (39), and their daughters Stella (9) and Ruby (4) – were brutally murdered in their Richmond home on New Year's Day. They were bound, beaten, had their throats slit, and the house was set on fire. The investigation initially struggled due to lack of forced entry and evidence destroyed by the fire.

Days later, on January 6th, the Baskerville-Tucker family – Percy L. Tucker (55), Mary Baskerville-Tucker (46), and their daughter Ashley Baskerville (21) – were found murdered in their Chesterfield home, similarly bound with throats slit. Ashley's friend, Latoya, tipped off police about two men, Ricky Gray and Ray Dandridge, who had stayed with Ashley and discussed robbing her stepfather. A Harvey family wedding ring was found on Ashley's body, linking the crimes.

The investigation revealed Ashley Baskerville was complicit in planning the robbery of her own family and had also participated in another home invasion with Gray and Dandridge. Gray and Dandridge were apprehended in Philadelphia. They confessed to the Harvey and Baskerville-Tucker murders, as well as the murder of Ricky Gray's wife, Trevor, a month prior, and a near-fatal assault on a man named Ryan. Their motive appeared to be robbery and a desire for power. Ray Dandridge received a life sentence. Ricky Gray was sentenced to death and executed in 2017.
