📌 WHAT HAPPENED
The SS Mont-Blanc, a cargo ship loaded with high explosives,
collided in Halifax Harbour and caught fire.
Unaware of the danger, residents gathered along the shore,
watching the burning ship for nearly 20 minutes.
💣 THE EXPLOSION
– The ship detonated with catastrophic force
– A large portion of the city was instantly destroyed
– Shockwaves shattered buildings miles away
– Many victims were injured simply because they were watching
🕊️ CASUALTIES
– Nearly 2,000 people lost their lives
– Thousands were injured
– Hundreds were permanently blinded
