बीजेपी ने असम के लिए उम्मीदवारों की लिस्ट जारी कर दी, लेकिन इससे पहले कांग्रेस को तगड़ा झटका लगा. कांग्रेस के दो बड़े नेताओं ने चुनाव से ठीक पहले पार्टी को टाटा बाय बाय बोल दिया. कांग्रेस के सिटिंग MP प्रद्युत बोरदोलोई ने तो बाकायदा बीजेपी ज्वाइन कर ली. अब वो बीजेपी के टिकट पर विधानसभा चुनाव लड़ेंगे. असम कांग्रेस के उपाध्यक्ष नवज्योति तालुकदार ने भी कांग्रेस छोड़ने का एलान कर दिया. तालुकदार कल बीजेपी में शामिल होंगे, .इससे पहले भूपेन बोरा कांग्रेस छोड़कर हिमंता बिस्व सरमा की टीम में शामिल हो चुके हैं.

The BJP has released its list of candidates for Assam; however, just prior to this, the Congress party suffered a major setback. Two prominent Congress leaders bid farewell to the party right on the eve of the elections. Pradyut Bordoloi, a sitting Congress MP, formally joined the BJP. He will now contest the Assembly elections on a BJP ticket. Navajyoti Talukdar, the Vice President of the Assam Congress, also announced his decision to quit the party. Talukdar is set to join the BJP tomorrow. Prior to this, Bhupen Borah had already left the Congress to join Himanta Biswa Sarma's team.
