Mesut Aytunca, one of the most influential figures in Turkish rock music, founded his own band with Erol Bilem. After some line-up changes, Berç Kürkçü, Koray Yılmaz and Muzaffer Güler joined them and they formed the band Silüetler in the early ’60s. The band was heavily influenced by British instrumental rock band The Shadows, even in their choice of name. Silüetler were known for their rock’n’roll versions of Turkish folk songs, such as Üsküdar and Lorke. Sis, an instrumental piece, was the B-side of Kaşık Havası, which came third in The Golden Microphone contest. This single was released in 1965 by Hürriyet, the newspaper that organized the contest. The band released 4 singles and 1 LP until 1967. After two of the band members left the band and joined Moğollar, Aytunca worked with different members and released a solo single but Silüetler eventually came to an end in 1973. Aytunca was found dead in 1976.
