The Cats had been on the rampage since the Round 3 encounter against Richmond (which say Robert Scott kick 7 goals and Tim Darcy kick 6) and after kicking a record VFL/AFL score against Brisbane in Round 7, it was the Crows who were put to the sword at Kardinia Park.
Hard to find too many tail-draggers amongst the Geelong side. Major goalkickers on the day were Bill Brownless (7), Gary Ablett (6), Mark Bairstow (5), Barry Stoneham (4). 3 votes to Bairstow, 2 to Ken Hinkley (game high 12 marks) and 1 vote to Brownless.
38 touches each to Adelaide's Chris Mc Dermott and Tony Mc Guinness. Future Cat Brenton Sanderson in the number 36 guernsey for the Crows in just his third game.
