Hello there! To celebrate Rayman’s 27th anniversary, I’ve decided to make a music compilation dedicated to the franchise’s classic villain!
Mr Dark, the most sinister antagonist in the series and arguably the most emblematic right next to Razorbeard! Let’s unleash the sorcerer’s cloak of darkness with this ‘evolution of Mr Dark’s themes’! …

I’ve included all his themes from Rayman 1 to Rayman Mini, including those from the fan remake Rayman Redemption!
Why did I even include Redemption if it’s fanmade? Because it’s just as great as official content and is even better than many Rayman games we got, including the original which is the game of my childhood. In a way, it should also be more ’2019/2020’ since the last official game as of now featuring the villain (Mini) came out in 2019… But while Mini was released that year, the files of Mr Dark were first datamined in late 2020 and the actual update implementing him happened in 2021. That’s why I’ve made extra versions of the thumbnail where Mini Mr Dark and the Redemption transformation are swapped in the chronology.
This video also includes the unused themes from Rayman Origins which were intended to be used for Mr Dark before most of the game’s story was scrapped and he got replaced by his fanatic: the Magician (who became an evil Teensie for some reason…).

Most importantly, I’ve added the covers by Rémi Gazel (the main composer of the original Rayman who created Mr Dark’s classic theme) from his Rayman by Rémi project. The final version in particular was never made available on YouTube.
It’s only a sample of both versions as I find it more respectful towards Rémi Gazel’s work and I encourage you to listen to the music on his platforms.

I’ve also placed Mr DARK LIVE at the very end (despite its release in late 2017 … and yeah, I’ve indicated it as 2016 in the video due to an oversight) as it’s way more epic and fitting than ending it with Rayman Mini where Mr Dark is barely even an antagonist.


This video took far more time to make than expected… But I wanted to make it as polished as possible!
I’ve also changed the way I add visual effects in my music videos by implementing them only in the borders or during specific moments! I hope you’ll enjoy! :)
