For this session, we are honored to have Dr Nurlybek Mursali, Founder and CEO Biodock Inc., Stanford PhD, Y Combinator W21, Andreessen Horowitz-backed. How do you turn a research idea into a successful BioTech startup? What does it take to raise funding and scale in Silicon Valley? How can a PhD background shape an entrepreneur’s journey? Dr. Mursali will share his inspiring path from a Stanford PhD student to launching an AI-powered biotech company. He will talk about the highs and lows of fundraising — including how his team secured half of their investment round in just one day — and what it was like going through Y Combinator. He will also discuss the future of Biodock and what makes Stanford such a unique place for entrepreneurs. Plus, Dr. Mursali will open up about the lessons he’s learned, the historical figures who inspire him, and some of his most unconventional takes on startups and innovation

About the Talk:
Nurlybek shared his academic journey from plant biology to entrepreneurship, discussing his research on maternal obesity and his experience founding Biodock, a cloud AI analysis platform for biotech R&D labs. The session concluded with discussions about entrepreneurship, venture capital practices, and career paths, emphasizing the importance of persistence and self-motivation in pursuing one's passions.
