I scratch-built this with all NEW parts. You might have seen it before, but I made some significant changes. I started with an Intel S815EBM1 server m/b and Pentium III 1.13ghz Tualatin. Instead of the stock heat sink/fan, I used a Cooler Master copper/aluminum server-type one, with Arctic Silver 5. It's got a WD Caviar 40gb 7200rpm HD, and 512mb of Kingston RAM.
I moved the black fan from the back of the Cooler Master case to the front, and added a 120mm Cooler Master Sickle-Flo to the back. I was using a Kendac 400w p/s. but I replaced it with a 350w Thermal Master, usually found in Cooler Master cases. The wiring is much neater, and it's probably a little better quality. In all fairness, the Kendac hasn't given me any problems.
I was using a Geforce FX5500 before, but briefly replaced it with two Diamond Monsters, before replacing them with a NEW A-Trend Helios Voodoo2 8mb and NEW ATI Rage 128 Pro. The ATI card won't play Midtown Madness, in any comp I've tried. I have two of 'em.. both were n.i.b., so I'll use 'em in a couple Dells that won't play M.M., anyway (i810).
Next, I will replace the ATI with a n.i.b. Geforce2 MX-400, that arrived yesterday. If that won't play M.M., I'll just use the 815E chip's graphics for the 2D. It looks OK, and everything runs.
I ordered a second A-Trend Helios Voodoo2. The seller messaged me to tell me it's his last one. Perhaps, I'll run 'em in SLI.
Of course it has a Sound Blaster... and it was also brand-new.
Cables are new, too.
All new means all new.
The game is Test Drive 5. The car is the 1970 454 LS-6 Malibu SS. The track is Maui. The camera-work is bad, and the driving is worse. I should consider getting a proper camera and tripod, pr'bly.
