KTM 1290 SA Shimmy problem solved / Rozwiązanie problemu z shimmy

The 2021 KTM 1290 SA has a problem with the handlebar going into shimmy at around 65 km/h.
The phenomenon may be additionally intensified by elements such as a large rear topcase (sail), heavy motorcycle load (especially huge weight on rear side), passenger, play in the steering head bearing, unbalanced tires and tire type.

In my bike, it appeared on both competes of tires - factory Mitas and dual tires - Motoz Tractionator GPS

On the occasion of the installation, I conducted a small test.
Motoz Tractionator GPS tires - pressure 2.4 / 2.8
Driving without a case, cargo, passenger.

At a speed of 65 km / h there was a shaking of the handlebar when it was released. Regardless of the suspension setting (both driving mode and preload) the wobbleing appeared.

I installed two weights from 2022/2023 with numbers [61902004005]
The tightening torque is 25 Nm

After installing the weights, the shimmy at 65 km/h was practically reduced.
At a speed of 70 km/h there is a slight wobbleing but it is much smaller.


Please note that typical road tires can change the behavior of the handlebar.
The option with cargo, cases and a passenger remains to be tested.

I wonder how the behavior of the R version with a 21" wheel will change (more rotating mass = bigger shimma)

W KTM 1290 SA 2021 pojawia się problem z wpadaniem kierownicy w shimmy przy prędkości około 65 km/h. Zjawisko mogą potęgować dodatkowo elementy takie jak duży kufer z tyłu(żagiel), duże obciążenie motocykla (zwłaszcza dociążenie tyłu), pasażer, luz na łożysku ramy, niewyważone opony oraz typ opon.

W moim egzemplarzu pojawiało się to zarówno na oponach szosowych (fabryczne Mitas) jak i na oponach dualowych - Motoz Tractionator GPS

Przy okazji instalacji przeprowadziłem mały test.
Opony Motoz Tractionator GPS - ciśnienie 2,4 / 2,8
Jazda bez kufra, ładunku, pasażera.

Przy prędkości 65km/h dochodziło do telepania kierownicą w momencie jej puszczenia. Niezależnie od ustawienia zawieszenia (zarówno trybu jazdy jak i napięcia wstępnego ) telepanie pojawiało się.

Zamontowałem dwa ciężarki z rocznika 2022/2023 o numerach [61902004005]
Moment dokręcenia to 25 Nm

Po zamontowaniu ciężarków shimma przy prędkości 65km/h praktycznie została zredukowana.
Przy prędkości 70km/h występuje delikatne telepanie ale jest ono znacznie mniejsze.


Należy pamiętać że opony typowo szosowe mogą zmienić zachowanie kierownicy

Do przetestowania pozostaje jeszcze opcja z kufrem i pasażerem.

Ciekawe jak zmieni się zachowanie w wersji R z kołem 21" (większa masa rotująca = większa shimma)
