When a Mother Becomes a Movement | Alfiya Juzar Ali | TEDxMUET

Описание: Personal pain can often feel isolating. But what happens when that pain becomes purpose?

In this talk, Alfiya Juzar Ali shares how her journey as a mother navigating the challenges of raising a differently-abled child transformed into a mission for inclusive education and community empowerment. What began as a deeply personal struggle evolved into advocacy — not only for her own child, but for countless families facing similar realities.

She explores the systemic barriers that differently-abled children encounter, from limited educational access to social stigma, and highlights the emotional resilience required of families who must constantly advocate for belonging. Alfiya argues that inclusion is not charity — it is a fundamental right that strengthens society as a whole.

Through reflection and lived experience, she challenges audiences to rethink how communities define ability, support, and equity. When one parent refuses to accept exclusion, change begins to ripple outward.

This talk reframes motherhood not only as a personal role, but as a powerful force for social transformation. Alfiya Juzar Ali is an inclusivity advocate dedicated to supporting differently-abled children and their families. Through her leadership at Batool Special Students’ Institute, she works to promote inclusive education and community awareness. Her journey into advocacy emerged from personal experience, motivating her to create spaces where children of all abilities can learn, grow, and belong. Alfiya collaborates with educators, parents, and communities to challenge stigma and expand access to support systems. Her work emphasizes dignity, empowerment, and the belief that inclusion strengthens not just individuals, but society as a whole. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
