Recently, the Communist party expelled two former Chinese Defence Ministers from the PLA on account of corruption. President Xi is reportedly clearing up the Chinese military. In recent months, over a dozen officials have been purged, including senior generals and executives from China's defence industry. Recently, Xi also met top PLA officials and asked them to double down on corruption. He talked about certain "deep-seated" problems within the Chinese military, referring to PLA officials' loyalty towards the Communist party. Since taking power in 2012, Xi has ordered multiple clean ups within the PLA, purging hundreds of officials. This raises a question on the war readiness of the Chinese military.
