Описание: President Donald Trump is meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the White House on Thursday as the two look to work out a deal on the purchase of fighter jets.

In the president's first term, the United States kicked its NATO ally Turkey out of its F-35 fighter jet program after the nation purchased an air defense system from Russia.

Officials at the time were concerned that Turkey's use of the system could be used to compile data on F-35 capabilities and end up with Russia.

Trump shared a sign of hope for a deal with Turkey on Truth Social ahead of Erdogan's arrival.
