He explained that their growing cooperation is largely driven by shared concerns about Russia and the need to protect the Baltic Sea region. Hallgren noted that since Sweden joined NATO, military coordination with Poland and other regional allies has increased significantly. He also pointed out that Sweden wants to prove it’s a net security contributor by deploying forces and working more closely with partners like Poland. On the defense industry side, both countries are starting to procure equipment from each other and deepen cooperation on technologies such as submarines and surveillance in the Baltic. Overall, Hallgren argues that Nordic, Baltic, and Polish cooperation is getting stronger as Europe prepares to take more responsibility for its own security and keep supporting Ukraine despite global tensions.
