In this video, we are going to learn about Korean Batchim. Batchim is consonant that goes under any Korean letter, which happens to make final sound of a letter.
There are three kinds of Batchim(받침): single consonant Batchim, two of same consonant (doubled consonant/ssang) Batchim, and two of different kinds of consonant Batchim. As for this video, we are going to learn about sounds and pronunciation that single consonant Batchim and doubled consonant Batchim make.
We mentioned in previous videos that there are total of 19 consonants. However, only 16 of those consonants can be used for Batchim, and only there are only 7 kinds of sounds and pronunciations that Batchim can make. Let me show you all the Batchim by linking them with 7 sounds that Batchim can make:
ㄱ sound : ㄱ,ㅋ,ㄲ
ㄴ sound : ㄴ
ㄷ sound : ㄷ,ㅌ,ㅅ,ㅆ,ㅈ,ㅊ,ㅎ
ㄹ sound : ㄹ
ㅁ sound : ㅁ
ㅂ sound : ㅂ,ㅍ
ㅇ sound : ㅇ
