Turkish (Türkçe) is the most widely spoken language of the Turkic family, primarily spoken in Turkey and Cyprus, with significant communities in the Balkans, Western Europe, and the Caucasus. It belongs to the Oghuz branch of the Turkic language family and has around 80 million native speakers. Turkish evolved from Ottoman Turkish, which in turn was influenced by Arabic and Persian, but underwent major linguistic reforms in the 20th century to simplify vocabulary and grammar. It uses a Latin-based alphabet, introduced in 1928, and is known for its vowel harmony and agglutinative structure, where suffixes modify meaning and grammatical function. Turkish is the official language of Turkey and one of the official languages of Cyprus, playing a key role in regional politics, trade, and culture.

Azerbaijani (azərbaycan dili), is a Turkic language spoken primarily by the Azerbaijani people in Azerbaijan and northwestern Iran, with significant communities in Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Iraq, and the Azerbaijani diaspora worldwide. It belongs to the Oghuz branch of the Turkic language family, closely related to Turkish, Turkmen, and Gagauz. Azerbaijani is an agglutinative language characterized by vowel harmony and the extensive use of suffixes for grammatical functions. It has two main varieties: North Azerbaijani, spoken in Azerbaijan and written in a Latin-based script, and South Azerbaijani, spoken in Iran and written in the Persian-Arabic script. The language has been influenced by Persian, Arabic, Russian, and Turkish due to historical and cultural interactions. Azerbaijani holds official status in Azerbaijan, where it is a key part of national identity, and it continues to thrive in literature, media, and education across the region.
