The Wasaphone MkII is a great way to capture an instant lo fi/old school drum sound, not to mention its very affordable and lovingly made in the UK by Tom Hackwell. http://www.wasaphone.com/ technical info is below.
Any mixed samples have some EQ, Compression and Reverb. On the MkII I cut some of the mids and boosted around the 2k area which is the top of the frequency range the MkII records at.
Tech Specs.
Drum Kit:
Sakae Trilogy drum kit with 3 ply vintage style shells.
22x14, 10x7, 12x8, 16x14 and a 14x6.5 Trilogy snare.
Evans Drumheads - G2 Coated over G1 on toms, calftone on snare and a coated EQ4 on the bass drum.
