Mark 6:34-44
As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd and had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things. When it grew late, his disciples came to him and said that it was a deserted place and the hour was very late, and that the people should be sent away so they could go into the surrounding country and villages and buy something for themselves to eat. But he answered them, telling them to give the people something to eat. They said to him that buying bread and giving it to everyone would be impossible. He asked them how much food they had and told them to go and see. When they found out, they told him what they had. Then he ordered all the people to sit down in groups on the green grass. They sat down together. Taking the loaves and the fish, he looked up to heaven, blessed them, broke the bread, and gave it to his disciples to set before the people. He also divided the fish among them all. Everyone ate and was satisfied, and the disciples gathered up baskets full of the broken pieces of bread and fish. Those who had eaten were many.
